15:53 Local Time, 14:53 GMT, 20:23 IST: Well, here comes the unfortunate but expected update. The second T20I between Ireland and England has been abandoned. The covers were removed around 30 minutes before the scheduled toss time. There were a couple of damp spots on the outfield due to the rain earlier in the day. An inspection was supposed to take place at 13.30 local time but it started to rain and never really relented. The third and the final T20I will be held at the same venue on Sunday (21st September) and let's hope that the weather doesn't play spoilsport. On that note, it's goodbye...
15:24 Local Time, 14:24 GMT, 19:54 IST: The match officials, with their umbrellas up, are out for an inspection. It's still drizzling. So, the wait continues.
15:13 Local Time, 14:13 GMT, 19:43 IST: The groundsmen are out in the middle and so is the super sopper. That's a positive update. The covers are still on. The first task is to remove water off the covers.
15:00 Local Time, 14:00 GMT, 19:30 IST: Nothing new to report. The umbrellas are up as the crowd is patiently waiting for some action. No activity from the groundsmen though which comfirms that it's still raining.
14:25 local, 13:25 GMT, 18:55 IST: It's not too heavy and it's not a drizzle either. The outfield is quite damp by the looks of it. Safe to assume that we have started to lose overs as well.
14:15 local, 13:15 GMT, 18:45 IST: The waiting game continues here in Dublin. It's one of those days, folks!!
13:35 local, 12:35 GMT, 18:05 IST: The announcer at the ground has just mentioned that the inspection will take place when the rain stops. At the moment, there isn't much movement from the groundstaff, suggesting that the rain is quite steady.
13:26 local, 12:26 GMT, 17:56 IST: Whoops! The covers are being dragged back on as the drizzle starts to get heavier by the minute. Looks like we are going to have a longer delay now...
Luke Wood: Pretty exciting game for spectators the last game. They got a bit too many in the end, obviously it was hard to defend on this ground with Jos and Salt going like that at the top, it was a great game. It was good fun and good to have the crowd in as well. We played a bit of golf and it is one of the great things about touring here.
Here is what the onfield umpires, Aidan Seaver and Jonathan Kennedy, had to say a few minutes ago. "We are going to have an inspection at 1.30. There are a couple of soft areas in the outfield. As long as the weather doesn't deteriorate ... there is rain around, we've had a look at the weather forecast. There's a couple of areas. The groundsmen have told us they need 30-45 minutes to get going as long as it doesn't start raining, that's the big thing."
12:45 local, 11:45 GMT, 17:15 IST: There were predictions of rain around the start time and for now it looks the delay is due to wet outfield. Here is an official update from Cricket Ireland: "Wet conditions have delayed the start. Next ground inspection at 13:30."
12:35 local, 11:35 GMT, 17:05 IST: The highly-rated Jacob Bethell has got his captaincy career off to a winning start as England chased down 197 with 14 balls to spare on Wednesday. Can Ireland bounce back to square the series 1-1? Hello and a warm welcome to the 2nd of the 3-match T20I series between Ireland and England in Dublin. There was only batter (for those who faced minimum 10 balls) whose strike rate read less than 150 in the first game, and if that is any indication of what is to come today, we are in for another high-scoring affair. Given the strength in their batting depth, England won't mind chasing once again, but can Ireland be a little more aggressive in the powerplay? With both bat and ball? Stick around, the toss is not too far away....
